Create and manage buyer questions Grenseo sends to AI platforms during visibility scans.
Prompts are the buyer-style questions Grenseo uses when it runs AI visibility scans. Each active prompt is probed across enabled AI models (for example ChatGPT with web search and Google AI Mode).
Open Prompts from the Grenseo sidebar (under the Prompts group, next to Analytics).
Why prompts matter
AI visibility is only as good as the questions you track. Prompts should reflect:
- Category research — “Best CRM for startups,” “How to choose a …”
- Comparisons — “[You] vs [Competitor]”
- Alternatives — “Alternatives to [Competitor]”
- Definitions — “What is …?” when relevant to your market
Grenseo classifies intent (comparison, alternative, definitional, recommendation) to help you balance the set.
Starter prompts
If a project has no prompts yet, Grenseo can generate starter prompts from your project context (industry, competitors, language). You can trigger this from:
- The Prompts page, or
- AEO Insights when you run your first scan.
Review proposed prompts, edit wording, assign topics, then set status to Active when you are ready to include them in scans.
Prompt fields
| Field | Purpose |

| Prompt text | The exact question sent to AI models. |
| Topic | Groups prompts for filters and topic charts in AI visibility. |
| Branded | Whether the question names your brand explicitly vs a generic category query. |
| Status | Active runs on scans; Proposed and Archived are skipped. |
| Volume / difficulty | Optional SEO-style hints when available—useful for prioritizing which gaps to fix with content first. |
Prompt table metrics
After you have scan history, each prompt row can show:
- Visibility score — share of probes where your brand was mentioned.
- Average position — where you tend to appear when mentioned.
- Sentiment — tone of AI answers about your brand on that prompt.
- Mentions — brands surfaced in recent answers (you and competitors).
Sort and filter by status, topic, or metrics to find underperforming queries.
Detail drawer
Click a prompt to open the detail drawer:
- Full prompt text and metadata.
- Per-run probe results with platform icons.
- Export or open the full model response when you need to read citations verbatim.
- Fix gap shortcuts to create planner articles from weak results.
Managing prompts
- New prompt — add a custom question; pick topic and branded flag.
- Edit — update text, topic, or status; archived prompts stay in history but do not run.
- Topics — reuse topic names across prompts so Topics charts in AEO Insights stay clean.
Run a new scan from AI visibility after you activate or materially change prompts.
